Artist Statement
Do you ever step out into nature and feel completely overcome by its beauty? Then, the second you try to take a picture of it, you realize there’s no way to truly capture the splendor of what you’re seeing in person? Maybe it’s the color balance on your camera, or it’s getting a bit distorted through the lens. You try editing the photo, cropping it, adding a filter; and while it can still be considered beautiful, nothing can ever do the justice of what you are seeing in front of you with your own eyes. The same thing happens when you try to realistically render nature through art. My art explores that contrast. Rather than trying to capture the real beauty of nature, I allow the distortion, bold colors and organic forms embrace a new life. By breaking down the natural world into geometric forms, putting natural and unnatural elements together, a new world gets created. This is the world I am choosing to share through my art.
